  • For more information on required licensing when upgrading from VMware Fusion 11.x to 12.x, see VMware Fusion 12.x sales, licensing and compatibility FAQs
  • Upgrading VMware Fusion 11.x to 12.x does not affect the contents of the virtual machine. All virtual machines and the data contained in them are retained.
  • Shut down any virtual machine before performing the upgrade. If any virtual machines are in a suspended state, resume them from the suspended state and perform a shutdown operation from the guest operating system. Ensure that status is Powered Off.
