Issue/Introduction
Symptoms:
When you assign a Replication Policy in the vCloud Availability Provider Portal to an Organization that contains a full stop (.) in its name, the Organization name that is assigned to the policy will not contain the full stop or any other characters that follow it.
For example, an Organization with the name Org1.0 will show in the Replication Policy as Org1
In the Policies > Policies view of the vCloud Availability Provider Portal, when you click on the Sync with Cloud option, an Organization with a partial name assigned to a Replication Policy due to the full stop issue detailed above will be removed from the policy. The full Organization name will then be associated with the Default Policy and cannot be associated with any other policy.
When you have an Organization that contains a comma (,) in its name, in the vCloud Availability Provider Portal the Policies > Organizations view will attempt to load the Organization list indefinitely and the vCloud Availability Provider Portal becomes unusable.
When you select a Replication Policy in the vCloud Availability Provider Portal and click Assign, the Assign Policy pop-up window will attempt to load the Organization list indefinitely and the vCloud Availability Provider Portal becomes unusable.
Environment
VMware vCloud Availability for Cloud-to-Cloud DR 1.x
Cause
This issue occurs because the full stop and comma characters in the Organization names are not escaped when being processed by vCloud Availability for certain actions. This results in the Organization name being cut short in the vCloud Availability Provider Portal when using a full stop, or the Organization name being interpreted as multiple Organizations when using a comma causing the vCloud Availability Provider Portal to fail to load the Organization list.
Resolution
This is a known issue affecting vCloud Availability for Cloud-to-Cloud DR 1.x. Currently, there is no resolution.
Note: It is recommended to avoid using Organization names containing a full stop or comma.
Workaround: To work around this issue, perform the appropriate action below depending on which character the Organization name contains.
Organization name containing a full stop
To use an existing Organization with a full stop in its name with vCloud Availability, you can edit the Default Policy to allow replications.
Organization name containing a comma
To associate an existing Organization with a comma in its name with a Replication Policy, perform the following actions:
Log into the vCloud Availability Provider Portal.
Navigate to the Policies > Policies view.
Click the Sync with Cloud option.
Select the Default Policy.
Note: Observe that the Organization is associated with the Default Policy.
In the compliance status list that is now displayed, select the Organization that we want to assign to another policy.
Click the Assign button in the compliance status section.
Select the Replication Policy you want to assign the Organization to.
