Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:
After deploying a Cloud Director Availability appliance, attempting to power it on from the ESXi Host Client results in the following errors:
  • The appliance is unable to apply network adapter settings and you see various errors related to h4network.
  • The appliance can start with a role different to the one selected during deployment.
  • The hostname is not configured correctly.


Environment

VMware Cloud Director Availability 4.x

Cause

This issue occurs because the OVF environment properties cannot be propagated correctly when the Cloud Director Availability appliance is powered on for the first time via the ESXi Host Client.

Resolution

This is known issue affecting Cloud Director Availability 4.x.
Currently, there is no resolution.

Workaround:
To work around this issue, redeploy the Cloud Director Availability appliance and perform the initial power on of the appliance from the vSphere Client.
