Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:
  • In the Network Settings view for a replication in the Cloud Director Availabilty Portal, the network information is showing as Mixed when the protected virtual machine only has one network adapter.
  • For on-premises to cloud replications the IP address can only be specified on the network adapter level, on the VM and vApp levels the IP address is denoted with an asterisk and cannot be edited.
  • For cloud to cloud replications the IP address can be specified on the VM and network adapter level, on the vApp level the IP address is denoted with an asterisk and cannot be edited.

Environment

VMware Cloud Director Availability 4.x

Cause

This issue occurs when a virtual machine with a single network adapter is protected where the adapter is not nic 0 in the Network Settings view of the Cloud Director Availability Portal. In the vSphere Client the network adapter is not displayed as network adapter 1 and in the virtual machine .vmx file it is not configured as ethernet0.

Resolution

This is a known issue in Cloud Director Availability 4.x.
Currently, there is no resolution.

Note: This does not impact the ability to manage the recovery network and IP settings of a virtual machine, as these can still be configured on the network adapter level in the Network Settings view.
