Issue/Introduction
Symptoms:
In the Storage DRS Faults view of an SDRS enabled storage cluster in a destination Cloud Director Availability cloud site, you see a message similar to:
Could not balance datastore space usage.
In the Storage DRS Fault Details view, you see similar messages for Cloud Director Availability placeholder indpendent disks:
Storage DRS is disabled on the virtual machine. Storage DRS is unable to move independent disks. This operation would violate a virtual machine affinity/anti-affinity rule.
Environment
VMware Cloud Director Availability 4.x
Cause
This behaviour occurs because replication files in a destination site have SDRS disabled on them as storage migration of destination replication files must be performed through Cloud Director Availability.
Resolution
This is an expected behavior and does not affect the functionality of Storage DRS balancing non-Cloud Director Availability VMs. You can ignore these fault messages.
To avoid generating these fault messages it is recommended to disable Storage DRS on datastore clusters that back storage policies used in destination sites.
Additional Information
For more information on how to move replication files to a different datastore, see the Select a Storage Policy section of the Cloud Director Availability documentation.
