"Operation aborted due to unexpected error" message when configuring new replications in Cloud Director Availability 4.x

Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:

  • The initial configuration of a new replication job fails in Cloud Director Availability with the error:
Operation aborted due to an unexpected error
  • In the Replication Tasks view, you see similar messages:
Failed to delete independent disk C4 xxxxxx
Independent disk C4 xxxxxx was not found
  • In the /opt/vmware/h4/cloud/log/cloud.log file on the Cloud Replication Management Appliance, you see entries similar to:

Environment

VMware Cloud Director Availability 4.x

Cause

This issue occurs due to a storage capacity reporting issue in vCenter Server that causes Cloud Director to show a negative used capacity value.

Resolution

This issue is resolved in vCenter Server 6.7 Update 3J, available at Broadcom Downloads.
