Issue/Introduction

This article provides information on why object resynchronization can occur in vSAN on the destination site when performing a failover, test failover, or migration of a replication in vCloud Availability.

Environment

VMware vCloud Availability 3.0.x

Resolution

This is an expected behaviour and does not affect the functionality of vCloud Availability.

While a replication is active the replica disks in the destination site have no vSAN Storage Policy associated with them as they have been created and exist outside of the vCenter Server inventory. Because of this, the vSAN Storage Policy is only applied to the VM in the destination site during failover which can cause a vSAN object resynchronization.
