Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:
  • When Manage Columns button is used to edit Data Grid the change is visible on the Custom From, however after saving and reloading the changes are no longer visible.

Environment

VMware Aria Automation 8.12.x
VMware vRealize Automation 8.11.x

Cause

The functionality of the Manage Columns button only influences the visibility of columns within the datagrid's current data view in Form Designer, without impacting the underlying schema of the form.

The datagrid, alongside all other fields present in the designer canvas, serve as a representation of elements and their intended arrangement within the form. Modifying the properties of these fields is only possible by selecting the field and then adjusting its properties in the Properties tab.

Resolution

VMware is aware of the issue and a resolution is planned for the Aria Automation 8.14 version.

Workaround:
To workaround the issue you can perform the following steps.

1. Instead of utilizing the 'Manage Columns' button to hide columns, navigate to the 'Values' tab of the datagrid within the form designer.

2. Under the 'Columns' section, you will find a small button resembling an Eye icon next to each datagrid field. By clicking on this visibility button, you can individually manage the visibility of each datagrid field.
