Issue/Introduction

This article outlines how to workaround issue where Aria Suite Lifecycle Content fails to capture from Aria Orchestrator instances on version 8.8 - 8.18, which have basic authentication disabled by default.

Symptoms:
  • Aria Suite Lifecycle Content Management fails for Aria Orchestrator Endpoint. The TEST CONNECTION button gives error:
Could not connect to endpoint <vRO_FQDN>: Failed to authenticate vRO <vRO_FQDN>
  • The version of vRealize Lifecycle Manager is lower than 8.12 and the vRealize Orchestrator is higher than 8.8 or else basic authentication has previously been manually disabled.

Environment

vRealize Suite Lifecycle Manager 8.x
Aria Suite Lifecycle 8.x

Cause

vRealize Orchestrator version 8.8 introduced a change that disables basic authentication by default. vRealize Suite Lifecycle Manager versions prior to 8.12 leveraged basic authentication to manager Aria Orchestrator as content endpoints.

Resolution

The issue in resolved in the vRealize Suite Lifecycle Manager 8.12 release.

Workaround:
To workaround the issue enable Basic Authentication on the Aria Orchestrator instance
  1. Log in to the Aria Orchestrator Control Center at https://<fqdn>:5480 as the root user.
  2. Select System Properties.
  3. Click New.
  4. Under Key, enter com.vmware.o11n.sso.basic-authentication.enabled.
  5. Under Value, enter true.
  6. (Optional) Enter a description for the new system property.
  7. Click Add, and wait for the Aria Orchestrator services to restart.
  8. Re-add as content endpoint in Aria Suite Lifecycle Manager.
