vRealize Orchestrator endpoint connectivity issues in VMware vRealize Lifecycle Manager Content Management

Issue/Introduction

This article outlines how to workaround issue where vRealize Lifecycle Manager Content fails to capture from vRealize Orchestrator instances on version 8.8 or higher which have basic authentication disabled by default.


Symptoms:
  • vRealize Lifecycle Manager Content Management fails for vRealize Orchestrator Endpoint. The TEST CONNECTION button gives error:

Could not connect to endpoint vROFQDN: Failed to authenticate vRO vROFQDN

  • The version of vRealize Lifecycle Manager is lower than 8.12 and the vRealize Orchestrator is higher than 8.8 or else basic authentication has previously been manually disabled.


Environment

VMware vRealize Suite Lifecycle Manager 8.x

Cause

vRealize Orchestrator version 8.8 introduced a change that disables basic authentication by default. vRealize Lifecycle Manager versions prior to 8.12 leveraged basic authentication to manager vRealize Orchestrator as content endpoints.

Resolution

The issue in resolved in the vRealize Lifecycle Manager 8.12 release.


Workaround:

To workaround the issue Enable Basic Authentication on the vRealize Orchestrator instance

  1. Log in to the vRealize Orchestrator Control Center as the root user.
  2. Select System Properties.
  3. Click New.
  4. Under Key, enter com.vmware.o11n.sso.basic-authentication.enabled.
  5. Under Value, enter true.
  6. (Optional) Enter a description for the new system property.
  7. Click Add, and wait for the vRealize Orchestrator services to restart.
  8. Re-add as content endpoint in vRealize Suite Lifecycle Manager
