Not able to view the security groups in the Security tab for AWS Cloud accounts in the China region

Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:

• Security groups are not visible in the Aria Automation Security tab for China based AWS Cloud accounts. The groups are visible in the AWS console. The Cloud account sync is succeeding.

Environment

VMware Aria Automation 8.x

Cause

Aria Automation does not currently support AWS china regions.

The AWS China Regions (Beijing, Ningxia) use special AWS accounts because of regulatory restrictions. As a result, AWS China accounts cannot be connected to Aria Automation the same way as normal AWS Global accounts since they use separate AWS API endpoints.

Resolution

The issue is pending a resolution.

Workaround:
The only workaround available is to leverage non-China based AWS regions.
