Expansion of a management cluster from SDDC manager (VCF) fails

Issue/Introduction

To fix management cluster expansion failures at customer setups. This KB will guide users to fix the issue themselves without raising an SR.

Symptoms:
Cluster expansion fails with the error code "OVERLAY_TRANSPORT_ZONE_NOT_FOUND" and message - Overlay Transport zone with tag vcf and scope vcf-orchestration not found in NSX-T cluster <nsxt-cluster-fqdn>

Cause

When user creates management domain with overlay transport zone name same as the NSXT default overlay transport zone name which is "nsx-overlay-transportzone", VCF will not add tags to this transport zone. This will result in a failure when such a cluster is being expanded by adding additional hosts.

Resolution

The issue is resolved in VCF 5.0

Workaround:
User has to add this tag to the overlay transport zone by logging into the NSX-T Manager UI:
tagName:vcf, tagScope:vcf-orchestration
