Incorrect Agent response results in discovery error message in SMARTS
Error Message: SWFE-W-Agent violates lexicographic ordering in response to GET_NEXT

Environment

VMware Smart Assurance - SMARTS

Cause

This message indicates that the SNMP agent specified violates the standard SNMP protocol.  Smarts can handle this violation -- i.e. discovery is not affected by it -- but issues a warning so this problem can be addressed by the customer.

Resolution

Customer should contact device's manufacturer or Agent's vendor and pursue resolution of the Agent's looping problem in response to SNMP requests.  This is not a bug in the Smarts code but a bug in the SNMP Agent response to a Standard SNMP query.
