Which standard TCP/UDP ports are used by Smarts domains?

Smarts domains are unable to communicate through a firewall

Environment

VMware Smart Assurance - SMARTS

Resolution

SMARTS will use the following protocols:  ICMP, TCP, SNMP/UDP.

The SNMP Trap Adapter service is configured to listen on port 162 by default.  This can be changed in the service startup command line.  The AM trap receiver is configured to listen on port 9000 by default.  This is configured in the IP/smarts/conf/trapd/trapd.conf file and can be changed.

The Broker uses port 426 by default and the license manager will use port 1744 by default. The IP, SAM and other domains don't have a default startup port and will use a free random port.  However, they can be hard coded upon startup to use a certain port if required, with the --port= option in the startup command line.  These ports should be opened inward to the server if a firewall exists.  The return connection should be automatic via the established connection keyword in the firewall.
