Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:

VM to VM path is the calculated path between 2 VMs in datacenter discovered by vRNI. It is based on the configuration information on the VM and intermediate entities discovered by vRNI :

1. It is NOT the trace-route path between 2 VMs
2. No packets are sent by vRNI to trace the path.

Resolution

VM to VM path will be traced if vRNI has:

1. IP addresses on the VMs
2. Default GW of the VMs
3. DVPG or DVS of the VMs 
4. Routing Information from Edge/DLR/physical routers
5. VLAN / VXLAN

To troubleshoot issues while running the feature, please review the error displayed in the UI and understand what information vRNI does not have to draw the path by running queries.
Once you have the missing information, reflect on why vRNI does not have it and think about how vRNI can get it.
The logs at /home/ubuntu/logs/restapilayer/latest.log can give you some extra details on the failure.
