Issue/Introduction

Recover the appliance OVF settings.

Symptoms:
The VIC Appliance VM does not load the OVF settings such as IPs, DNS, FQDN etc after a restoration of the VM with a backup.
On the VM console, you see the following message : "After first boot, unless you are upgrading the appliance, you must visit the Gettings Started Page to initialize the appliance before VIC services can start."
(Full screenshot attached to the KB)

Environment

VMware vSphere Integrated Containers 1.x

Resolution

To recover from that unhealthy state, and to be able to reconfigure the appliance, several keys have to be created to unlock the OVF properties while the VM is powered off.
These keys have to be added under:
VM > Edit Settings > vApp Options > Authoring > Properties (screenshot attached to the KB)

The list of keys is attached to the KB.
After the creation of the keys, and the reconfiguration of the VM, if you open the vApp options again, you should be able to configure the Application properties:
  • 1. Appliance Security
  • 2. Networking Properties
  • 3. Registry Configuration
  • 4. Management Portal Configuration
  • 5. Fileserver Configuration
  • 6. Demo VCH Installer Wizard Configuration
  • 7. Configure Example Users
