Issue/Introduction

  • Identifying what is causing the CPU contention and high memory.


Symptoms:
  • High CPU and high memory consumption is observed on the NSX manager.
  • Communication channel intermittently going down would be observed.
  • Issues publishing Firewall rules may be observed
  • Running "Show process monitor" one would observe beam.smp consuming more than 40% memory continuously.

  • In the NSX Manager vsm.log, you may see entries similar to the below:
2021-03-24 11:58:48.671 IST INFO pool-15-thread-1 HighCPUStatsCollection:88 - - [nsxv@6876 comp="nsx-manager" subcomp="manager"] >ThreadDump and Top Output dumping failed



Cause

  • This is an issue that was identified in NSX 6.4.4, 6.4.5 and 6.4.6, RabbitMQ fails to clear unused memory.

Resolution

  • This issue is resolved in NSX 6.4.8
