Issue/Introduction
VMware NSX was deployed via the vCenter plugin (NSXe).
When attempting to add a second compute manager you are faced with the following error:
"Cannot add new compute manager, since NSX was created through VC driven installation. (Error code: 90017)"
You are unable to add additional compute managers.
Environment
VMware NSX 4.1.0 VMware NSX-T Data Center 3.x
Cause
This is by design. NSXe has a 1:1 relationship between the NSX Manager and the Compute Manager (vCenter Server), when deployed via the vCenter plugin. NSXe is not intended to support more complicated use cases like multiple vCenter Servers.
Resolution
If multiple vCenter servers are required, please use the standalone NSX deployment.
