HCX - Migration failed with error "JSONObject["peerAppliances"] not found"

Issue/Introduction

Identify a known issue which may cause HCX migration to stuck in configuration stage and how to recover that.

Symptoms:
HCX migration workflow will not proceed may got stuck in "Received lock request on IX appliance" state as shown below:



Below error/exceptions can be seen in HCX app.log on HCX Connector or Cloud system:

org.codehaus.jettison.json.JSONException: JSONObject["peerAppliances"] not found.

Cause

The issue is caused by stale entry of an OLD IX appliance which could've been removed ungracefully by user in the past from either systems.

Resolution

None at the moment.

Workaround:

User can open a Service Request with VMware Global Support Services and include the required information to work on remediation.

Additional Information

Impact/Risks:

• All migration workflows will be affected.
• The HCX DR workflow wil be affected.
• There will be NO impact to Network Extension services.
