Static IP address of an adapter is lost

Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:
After upgrading the Windows 7 SP1 and Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1, the static IP address information of an adapter is lost.

Cause

This issue occurs when the existing adapter is replaced with a new adapter without any custom settings after upgrading the Windows 7 SP1 and Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1.

Resolution

This is a known issue affecting Windows 7 and Server 2008 R2 machines.

 

To resolve this issue, install the Microsoft Knowledge Base 3125574.
