TKG 2.5 (Photon v5) Images do not boot with EFI mode

Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:
Attempting to power on VMs using the Photon v5 Kubernetes v1.28.4 OVA or Photon v5 Kubernetes v1.27.8 OVA with EFI mode set in the boot options results in the operation getting stuck at the boot manager.

Cause

This is a known issue with the above mentioned OVA files.

Resolution

There is currently no resolution. Engineering is working on fixing the OVA files and this article will be updated once completed.

Additional Information

Impact/Risks:
Workload clusters or other VMs using this OVA file will not be able to boot using EFI. BIOS boot mode is not impacted.
