Issue/Introduction

In vSphere 7.0 GA and 7.0 P01 when using a vSphere Lifecycle Manager (VLCM) Cluster image, remediation against an image containing the Intel NVME Driver with VMD Technology (intel-nvme-vmd-en) component fails with an error:

"Host '<IP>' reported Non-Compliant after remediation",

The compliance status page of the particular host will display a notification:

"ESXi Components Intel-Volume-Mgmt-Device are either missing or downgraded on the host. Appropriate action will be taken during remediation"

Environment

VMware vSphere 7.0.0

Cause

There is a code issue in desired image compliance check process.

Resolution

This issue is resolved in vSphere 7.0 Update 1 available in the Broadcom download portal

Workaround:
In vLCM cluster image side there is no workaround.
You can login to each host and manually apply the component with esxcli software component apply command, although these hosts will always show as non-compliant when checking for compliance.
