Issue/Introduction

To provide the steps to resolve a failed deployment from VMware Aria Automation due to the datastore error.

Symptoms:
When attempting to deploy a template from VMware Aria Automation, the process fails with a datastore error.

Error : Access to perform the operation was denied. Unaccessible resource for DatastoreMappingParams.target_datastore: <datastore-ID: UUID>.

The users are logged in as "[email protected]" or an account with the CloudAdmin role assigned.

This fails with templates that are uploaded to the Content Library as well.

In the SDDC, the vCenter task shows failure is due to a permissions issue.

Cause

This is caused by the templates attempting to use the "vsanDatastore". The "vsanDatastore" datastore is used by the Management virtual machines only in the SDDC. The "WorkloadDatastore" is for workload virtual machines, templates, ISO images, and other files uploaded to the SDDC.

Resolution

Verify the deployment template is using the correct datastore. For VMware Cloud deployments, this should be the "WorkloadDatastore" by default.

Please refer vSAN Storage in VMware Cloud on AWS to know about the datastore option in VMware Cloud on AWS

Workaround:
There is no workaround for this issue.
