[VCDR] Ransomware Recovery Linux Sensors Fail to Install on Recovery SDDC Version 1.22v2 and Lower

Issue/Introduction

Knowledge-base article to assist with VCDR Ransomware Recovery Linux sensor installation on recovery SDDCs 1.22v2 and lower.

Symptoms:
Trying to install the Carbon black sensor as part of the VCDR Ransomware Service.
The installation on Windows VM may fail with Error "There was a problem installing the security sensor. Failed to install security analysis senor. Check proxy and network config.

Cause

This is caused by VMC on AWS NSX component and VCDR use case, any eternal environments on VCDR production environment who selected support for Carbon Black integration can observe problem and cannot install Linux sensor.

This is a known issue for SDDC versioning 1.22v2 and lower versions. In the particular NSX versioning associated with SDDC version 1.22v3 would have the known long-term fix.

 

Resolution

Please check VMC on AWS SDDC version via VMC Console navigation of "Selecting SDDC" --> "Support" tab and verify if SDDC version, is below 1.22v3, if it is then please coordinate a SDDC upgrade with VMC on AWS GSS support to coordinate and schedule an SDDC upgrade.
