Issue/Introduction

Attempting to take a high-frequency snapshot on a VM fails with the following error

"Enable LWD-based data protection - Cannot complete the operation. See the event log for details. Another vendor has already initiated an operation on the protected entity."

Screenshot of the error seen in the on-premise Task Console:

Environment

VMware Live Cyber Recovery 7.27.x

VMware Live Cyber Recovery 7.26.x

Cause

This is caused if the VM was already protected with LWD(High Frequency snapshot) in a different protection group in VLCR or in a different VLCR deployment. The LWD snapshot still use the old ID and re-protecting the VM with HFS snapshot will fail.

Resolution

Deactive the HFS from the VM before it being re-protected again. Refer documentation Deactive high frequecy snapshot.

Once 'unprotected' re-attempt a High-frequency snapshot to verify that the VM is no longer experiencing the issue.

Note: The first high-frequency snapshot taken of that VM requires a full seeding process so it may take longer to complete.
