Symptoms:

Receiving the following VCDR errors randomly for multiple Protection Groups which will resolve itself on subsequent runs.

VMware Cloud DR alert

Recovery region: (AWS Region)

--------------------------------------------------------

Severity: ERROR

Description: Protected group 'Tag Name' status transitioned from GOOD to CRITICAL: The last snapshot of protection group 'Tag Name' failed because it did not include any VMs.

Timestamp: DATE 1:00:00 PM UTC

Alarm type: CriticalHealthEvent

Or

"The last snapshot of protection group <group name> failed because it did not include any VMs."

Cause

There is a race involved while saving tags whenever there are tags attached to non-vm resources in vCenter. This sometimes results in problems fetching tags for VM's. This intermittently fails snapshots. This issue exists in VCDR version 26.

Resolution

If, Tags are not in use and you are seeing this error then please validate VM compatibility with VCDR. Refer Caveats and Limitations

Otherwise, upgrade VCDR to version 27 or greater.

Additional Information

Impact/Risks:
