Issue/Introduction

  • Receive the following VLCR errors randomly for multiple Protection Groups which will resolve itself on subsequent runs.

VMware Cloud DR alert

Recovery region: (AWS Region)

--------------------------------------------------------

Severity: ERROR

Description: Protected group 'Tag Name' status transitioned from GOOD to CRITICAL: The last snapshot of protection group 'Tag Name' failed because it did not include any VMs.

Alarm type: CriticalHealthEvent

Or

"The last snapshot of protection group <group name> failed because it did not include any VMs."

  • Protection Groups are configured with vCenter tags to populate the VMs.

Environment

VMware Live Cyber Recovery 7.26.x and older

Cause

This is caused due a race condition while saving vCenter tags associated with the VM and leads failures fetching tags for VM's. This intermittently fails snapshots.

Resolution

Note: If the Tags are not used and you still you are seeing this error, then please validate VM compatibility with VLCR. Refer Caveats and Limitations

Otherwise, create a request to upgrade VLCR to version 7.27.x or greater
