[VMC on AWS] Unable to add additional privileges to support VEEAM backups

Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:

In order to use VEEAM backup solutions, certain privileges are required to be enabled for CloudAdmin or AD user. These privileges include:

  • DisableMethods
  • EnableMethods
  • License

Addition of these privileges leads to lack of permission error. Backup of the migrated servers are blocked. Error message "Not eough privileges to execute this action".

Resolution

Addition of privileges to CloudAdmin user is not supported or possible at this time.

The maximum privilege allowed in a VMC environment already resides with CloudAdmin user and therefore no further privilege can be added to it. There is a VEEAM document already for VMC environments including limitations, which can be found here:
