No_Proxy requirement for vCenter Server File based Backup and Restore

Issue/Introduction

If the vCenter appliance has Proxy configured and if the proxy doesn't allow traffic to the backup server, then backup will fail.

 

Environment

VMware vCenter Server 6.7.x
VMware vCenter Server 8.0.x
VMware vCenter Server 7.0.x

Cause

FBBR requires the backup server IP/FQDN to be explicitly mentioned in the NO_PROXY list.

Resolution

There is no resolution to the issue, this is as per design.

Workaround:

To workaround the issue, add the FQDN/IP of the backup server to the NO_PROXY list in /etc/sysconfig/proxy file.
