Issue/Introduction

The Common Services for z/OS Resource Initialization Manager (CAIRIM) prepares an operating system environment for all Broadcom Mainframe products and then starts them.  CAIRIM dynamically installs these products and eliminates the need to permanently install SVCs, link pack area (LPA) modules, subsystem definitions, SMF exits, or other changes to an operating system.   CAIRIM stores the result of each initialization routine in the form of date, time, and success or failure based upon the return code.

How can the success or failure of the initialization of these resources be verified?

Environment

Release: 14.1 or 15.0 of Common Services-for z/OS
Component: CAIRIM

Cause

Customers may want to verify the installation of the various products and/or resources installed by CAIRIM.

Resolution

The Common Services for z/OS CAIRIM component offers three utilities, CAIRIMU, CAISMFU, and CAISUBU to report on, display, and verify the initialization of these resources.

CAIRIMU displays the status of all modules initialized by CAIRIM.

CAISMFU displays the status of the SMF exits installed by CAIRIM.

CAISUBU displays the status of the subsystems installed by CAIRIM.

These utilities can be executed in one of three ways.

As a batch job - sample JCL for each of the utilities is found as a member in CAI.CAW0JCL.

As a started task - sample members are found in CAI.CAW0PROC.

From a TSO CLIST - sample CLISTS are members of CAI.CAW0CLS0 using LIBDEF.

If there are any problems encountered with any of the resources initialized by CAIRIM, these utilities can be used to verify their installation.

Additional Information

A detailed description of each of these utilities can be obtained from the CAIRIM Utilities  found in the Common Services for z/OS r15.0 Documentation
