During Postgres/RPM upgrade postgres upgrade does not complete successfully due to unknown factors and may result in postgres being down.

Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:

After upgrade,  SDDC manager UI will not be accessible and will be unable to perform most api calls.

Example of a scenario where Postgres is down.

Environment

Cause

Postgres upgrade may break due to reasons such as corrupted database, upgrade interrupted, and other external factors.

Resolution

To resolve the issue, search for the creation of postgres_failed.log under /var/log/vmware/vcf/commonsvcs .
If postgres and upgrade still does not automatically continue. Contact engineering and perform a snapshot roll back.
