VCF ESXi upgrade fails during post validation due to HA related cluster configuration issue.

Issue/Introduction

The article provides a solution to the temporary warning incident that occurs on cluster, which is not cleared and continues to show up as a cluster health issue. Hence shows up during post/pre upgrade validations.

Symptoms:
The upgrade of ESXi Cluster fails with error that is similar to below error message :
Cluster Configuration Issue: vSphere HA failover operation in progress in cluster <cluster-name> in datacenter <datacenter-name>: 0 VMs being restarted, 1 VMs waiting for a retry, 0 VMs waiting for resources, 0 inaccessible vSAN VMs


Environment

VMware Cloud Foundation 5.0

Cause

This is a known issue that can happen due to a race condition.

Resolution

To resolve this issue disable and re-enable HA at the cluster level.
For disabling HA at the cluster level, refer to Disabling VMware High Availability (HA) (1008025)
For enabling HA at the cluster level, refer to  Configure vCenter HA With the vSphere Client

Note : Retry upgrade post disabling/re-enabling HA.
