Issue/Introduction

To update the licenses for the products in domain.


Symptoms:

If any of the products in VCF inventory are expired or about to expire in 30 days, global alert is shown as below:

At Domain Level

If any of the products in the domain is expired or about to expire or needs to be relicensed, alert is shown in domain details page to take action (update licenses)

Environment

VMware Cloud Foundation 5.0

Cause

This is a new feature implemented in N1. If the license is expired or needs to be relicensed. It is expected to update the license for the products.

Resolution

Update the license for the products in the domain using below steps.

1. Licenses can be updated using Update License menu under domain Actions.

2. Select the products you want to apply license to:

3. Selecting license key for vCenter:

4. Select license key for NSX:

5. Select the license key and Cluster for VSAN License:

6. Select the license key and Cluster for ESXi License.

7. Review and Submit.

8. Monitor the progress in task panel.

Once task is completed successfully, license key will be applied.

 


Workaround:
Currently there is no workaround.
