Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:

When we have a Kubernetes node VM and CNS volume on the vSAN datastore and say the volume is attached to the node VM. Relocating this CNS volume to a vVol datastore fails with “Cannot Create File” error.

Environment

VMware vCenter Server 8.0.x

Cause

This is a known issue.

Resolution

Currently there is no resolution for this issue.

Workaround:
Create a storage policy compatible with the vVol datastore and migrate the Kubernetes node VM to the vVol datastore specifying the newly created storage policy. Once the node VM is on vVol datastore, migrating the attached CNS volume from any datastore type to the vVol datastore works fine.
