Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:

On the ESX host screen, as it tries to use network boot there is an error message when accessing the URL with the postfix "/vmw/rbd/tramp" which says:
"Could not boot image: Invalid argument (http://ipxe.org/err/1c0de8)"

Environment

VMware vCenter Server 8.0.2

Cause

iPXE's implementation cannot handle the TLS handshake when communicating to vCenter in cases where the root certificate authority in the vCenter has been replaced.
https://github.com/ipxe/ipxe/issues/407

Resolution

Currently there is no resolution to the issue. This will be fixed in the future release.

Workaround:
To workaround the issue, please revert the vCenter root certificate authority to default.
