Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9 Virtual Machine with EFI firmware is incorrectly configured during the Virtual Machine creation

Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:
Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9 Virtual Machine with EFI firmware cannot be installed on ESXi 7.0U3 if it is created as RHEL 9.0 Virtual Machine option.

Environment

VMware vSphere ESXi 7.0.3

Cause

Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9 Virtual Machine with EFI firmware is incorrectly configured as 32-bit EFI firmware during the Virtual Machine creation.

Resolution

The issue has been resolved in ESXi 7.0 U3d

Workaround:

To workaround the issue, select Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8 as Virtual Machine option during the process of creating Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9 Virtual Machine with EFI firmware. This affects Virtual Machines with a virtual hardware version 18 and 19.
