Issue/Introduction

This article provides information on how to install OS X 10.10/10.11 or macOS 10.12/10.13/10.14/10.15/11/12 on ESXi.

Symptoms:

• Fresh installation does not work on ESXi for OS X 10.10/10.11 or macOS 10.12/10.13/10.14/10.15/11/12

• It fails to load OS X or macOS installing process correctly using "OS X 10.10/10.11 or macOS 10.12/10.13/10.14/10.15/11/12" installer file

Environment

VMware vSphere ESXi 6.0

Resolution

To resolve this issue:

- For OS before macOS 10.15, you first install OS X 10.8 and then upgrade to OS X 10.10/10.11 or macOS 10.12/10.13/10.14.

- For macOS 10.15/11/12, you first install OS X 10.8, then upgrade it to OS X 10.9 or its later version, then upgrade to macOS 10.15/11/12.
