Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:
During the NSX upgrade process, an error occurred indicating that the NSX Manager associated with the management domain was not present in the audited NSX Managers map. This issue seems to be related to previous upgrades when the domains were on vCenter Lifecycle Manager (VLCM).

The error message encountered during the upgrade attempt:
2023-07-04T13:46:43.476+0000 WARN [vcf_lcm,0000000000000000,0000,upgradeId=c52eae23-7972-437b-a999-357b446e3c91,resourceType=NSX_T_PARALLEL_CLUSTER,resourceId=NSX.DOMAINNAME:_ParallelClusterUpgradeElement,bundleElementId=7f6ca62f-7c8b-4763-986a-3f994a9976c9] [c.v.e.s.l.a.i.i.InventoryClientImpl,Upgrade-1] NSX-T cluster NSX.DOMAINNAME does not exist in auditedNsxtClusterMap

Environment

VMware Cloud Foundation 4.x
VMware NSX-T Data Center
VMware Cloud Foundation 4.4
VMware NSX-T Data Center 3.x

Cause

Cause:
The error occurred due to the absence of the management domain's NSX Manager in the audited NSX Managers map. This discrepancy was caused by previous upgrades when the deployment was using VLCM.

Resolution

To resolve the issue and proceed with the NSX upgrade, follow these steps:
  • Disable Proxy on vCenter Server:
  • Disable the Proxy settings on the vCenter Server to ensure smooth communication during the upgrade process.
  • Verify Audited NSX Managers Map:
  • Verify the audited NSX Managers map to ensure that all relevant NSX Managers, including the one associated with the management domain (in this case, NSX.DOMAINNAME), are correctly listed.
  • Restart Upgrade Process:

Once the Proxy is disabled and the audited NSX Managers map is verified, reattempt the NSX upgrade process.

Additional Information

Impact/Risks:
This NSX-T upgrade failure is a blocker for VCF
