Issue/Introduction

This article provides steps to reset admin password for vSphere Replication Appliance (from 8.4) / Site Recovery Manager Appliance

Symptoms:

• The admin password is not known for the vSphere Replication (VR) or for Site Recovery Manager (SRM) by the administrator
• vSphere Replication / Site Recovery Manager admin password is lost
• Administrator knows root password but does not have admin password

Environment

vSphere Replication 8.x

vSphere Replication 9.x

Live Recovery 9.x

Site Recovery Manager 8.x

Resolution

If user know the root password follow the steps below - 

• Open web console window of VR / SRM appliance from vCenter
• enter passwd admin to change the password

passwd admin
New password
Retype new password
passwd admin: password updated successfully
