Issue/Introduction
This article provides steps to reset admin password for vSphere Replication Appliance (from 8.4) / Site Recovery Manager Appliance
Symptoms:
- The admin password is not known for the vSphere Replication (VR) or for Site Recovery Manager (SRM) by the administrator
- vSphere Replication / Site Recovery Manager admin password is lost
- Administrator knows root password but does not have admin password
Environment
VMware vSphere Replication 8.x
Resolution
If user know the root password follow the steps below -
- Open web console window of VR / SRM appliance from vCenter
- enter passwd admin to change the password
passwd admin
New password
Retype new password
passwd admin: password updated successfully
New password
Retype new password
passwd admin: password updated successfully
