VMware NSX for vSphere

Issue/Introduction

  • The NSX-v Manager UI will failed to load 'Upgrade' pane/page with an error 'Internal server error has occurred'
  • Users cannot perform a 'one click' upgrade or plan and start an upgrade from 'Upgrade' navigation page
  • Issue is observed in upgrades to 6.4.5 and later
  • Stale agency IDs exists from old NSX-v versions

Environment

VMware NSX for vSphere 6.4.x
VMware NSX Data Center for vSphere 6.4 Extended Support

Cause

The issue is caused by stale deployment units that exist in the NSX-v.
The corresponding agency will still be present in the EAM MOB in VC.
As a result, the Upgrade Co-ordinator would be unable to load available 'Clusters' along with other inventory collection, where some of the clusters were non-existent any more, but their agencies still exist.

Resolution

If you believe you have encountered this issue and have extended support for NSX-v, please open a support case with Broadcom Support and refer to this KB article.
