Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:
  • Guest Introspection service status shows as "Warning", for particular ESXi hosts
  • Removing and re-adding the host to the cluster does not resolve the issue.
  • Elements of GI do not prepare properly (vswitch creation, USVM may now power on, mux connect may not establish)
  • Exceptions found in the vsm.log of NSX manager regarding EventHistoryCollector object not being found:

Environment

VMware NSX Data Center for vSphere 6.4.x

Cause

This issue can occur where the EventHistoryCollector ID cached internally in NSX was not updated in situations where the EventHistoryCollector object in vCenter has been destroyed due to an exception.

Resolution

This issue is resolved in NSX 6.4.11.

Workaround:
To workaround this issue, you can re-register NSX to vCenter and re-prepare the affected host(s) as required.
