Issue/Introduction

Sync stuck at 20% for replications in vCloud Director Availability:

Error: Sync timeout for replication 'C4-8xxxxxxc-5xx1-4xx7-9xx4-4xxxxxxxxx4'.

Environment

VMware Cloud Director Availability 4.x.x

Cause

vsphere Replication and vsphere Replication NFC services are not enabled on the vmk interfaces of source and destination ESXi hosts for replication traffic.

Resolution

Please ensure you follow the steps below to achieve resolution:

  1. Enable the vsphere Replication and vsphere Replication NFC services on the VMK interfaces of source and destination ESXi hosts.
  2. Make sure that VCDA appliances resolve to both forward and reverse lookup address.
  3. Verify the Hostname is set to Fully qualified domain name under Appliance settings >> Network and domain search path should be set to the right domain name (not the ip address).
  4. Verify that there’s no time drift between VCDA appliances, VCD and vcenter. To verify run watch watch -n 0,1 time (run this simultaneously on all nodes).
  5. Port connectivity between VCDA appliances and VCD, vcenter should be verified. You can review the port requirements here:  VMware Ports and Protocols
