Static IP does not work after do traditional GOS for SLES15SP1

Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:

• Guest OS Customization fails if static IP is specified in customization spec for SLES 15 SP1.
• In the /var/log/vmware-imc/toolsDeployPkg.log file, you see entries similar to:

DEBUG: Command: 'ls -l /run/netconfig/resolv.conf > ~/run_resolv.log 2>&1'
DEBUG: Result:
DEBUG: Exit Code: 512

Environment

VMware vSphere ESXi 6.5
VMware vSphere ESXi 6.0
VMware vSphere ESXi 6.7

Cause

From SLES15 SP1, the network is managed by netconfig, GOS call netconfig will apply the network configuration. This requires the SLES to ensure the netconfig is launching before VMTools trigger the customization. If not the network configuration fails.

Resolution

This issue is resolved in VMware ESXi 6.5 Update 3 and 6.7 Update 3, available at VMware Downloads.

Workaround:
To workaround this issue, add below entries in the /usr/lib/systemd/system/vmtoolsd.service file:
