Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:
Rename DVS uplinks name together will cause host and VMs on this host lose network connectivity if vmk0 is using these uplinks on this host.

Environment

VMware vSphere ESXi 6.5
VMware vSphere ESXi 6.7
VMware vSphere ESXi 6.0

Resolution

This is fixed in ESXi 7.0 and later versions

Workaround:
Move vmk0 out of this DVS before rename all the uplinks names, or rename the uplink name one by one.

Once it occurred, you may need to move vmk0 from DVS to a standard vSwitch.
1. Note the current configuration of DVS.
2. Remove vmnic from DVS.
3. Remove VMkernel port(vmk0) from DVS.
4. Create a new standard vSwitch.
5. Create a VMkernel port and attach it to a portgroup on a Standard vSwitch.
