VM disk Storage rate inaccuracy in the Chargeback bill

Issue/Introduction

• Billing issue is seen where VM Storage rate is not accurate in the Chargeback bill

Environment

• Aria Operations 8.x

Cause

• Due to incorrect Storage Tag configuration in vCenter

Resolution

• According to below document, Tag name should be same as Storage Policy name in vCD and Category name should be 'storage type' (small letters) with Datastore as Tag
  • Creating and Assigning vCenter Storage Profile Tag in Tenant App Configuring VCD Pricing Details
• Change Category name from Datastore to 'storage type' and Tag name to whatever Storage Policy name is given in vCD
• Before the configuration change, Storage Profile was showing Configured (MB) Metric for vSAN Default Storage Policy in vROPS > VM > Metrics > Storage Profile > vSAN Default Storage Policy > Configured (MB)
• And after the config change, Storage Profile shows Configured (MB) and Actual Usage (MB) Metrics in vROPS > VM > Metrics > Storage Profile > vSAN Default Storage Policy > Configured (MB) and Actual Usage (MB)
• Actual Usage (MB) Metric will collect data successfully after correcting configuration in vCenter
