Issue/Introduction

  • After upgrading VMWare Cloud Director to 10.4.x and VMware Chargeback and Aria Operations (formerly vRops) to 8.10.x, Service provider portal does not show plugin for Chargeback.
  • vCD Tenant Operations Manager plugin does not work and keeps loading.
  • The Operations Manager plugin works internally when accessed via vCD Provider but not via vCD Tenants.
  • vCD and Chargeback certificates will be same but still issue will be seen.

Environment

  • VMware Chargeback 8.x

Cause

  • The root cause of the issue was the use of an internal FQDN instead of a public or external FQDN in the Tenant App Proxy section during the plugin registration process in VMware Chargeback.
  • The internal FQDN restricted the plugin's accessibility from the external Tenant UI.

Resolution

  • Stop the vCD plugin in Chargeback from Support > Self Health page.

  • Reconfigure the vCD plugin using the public or external FQDN in the "Tenant App Proxy" section.

  • Note: Stopping the plugin ensures that any existing connections are terminated and that the configuration changes can be applied without conflicts. Using the public or external FQDN allows the plugin to be accessible from both the vCD Provider UI and the Tenant UI, restoring full functionality.

Additional Information

Impact/Risks:

  • vCD Tenants will not be able to access Operations Manager plugin or Chargeback plugin.
