Issue/Introduction

This KB article addresses VMware's continuing support for CentOS 6 as the underlying OS for VMware Edge Network Intelligence™ and OnWatch NP by Nyansa.

Resolution

VMware Edge Network Intelligence and OnWatch NP by Nyansa crawler appliances use CentOS 6 as the underlying OS. Although CentOS 6 was officially end-of-life by the CentOS open source community in November 2020, VMware has continued to provide security updates for the underlying OS using a combination of VMware’s internal security resources and external extended lifecycle support services specifically designed for CentOS 6.

Software updates are available for customers with active subscriptions. Our regular software updates typically occur every 2 weeks. These updates include features and security updates. VMware may address any critical security vulnerability through automated software updates which may include a complete OS upgrade.
