VMware Chargeback is showing incorrect storage figures when billing

Issue/Introduction

• Provide guidance or recommendations to address the "Chargeback showing incorrect or no Storage rate" issue.

Symptoms:

• When generating a bill using the pricing settings 'Storage Pricing - Aggregate storage charges from VMs, Media, vAPP templates and independent disks or PAYG org-VDCs' the storage value is not showing any costs.
• Bill is run on an ovdc with one vm in it but this is an issue for all ovdcs.
• The bill generated shows no costs for storage, In fact the storage doesn't show at all.

 

Environment

VMware Chargeback 8.10
VMware vRealize Operations 8.x

Cause

• Due to misconfiguration of "Charge based on" setting in Chargeback.

Resolution

• Change the "Charge based on" setting from "Usage" to "Limit" in the Pricing Policy for the Storage Profiles after which the Storage Profiles will show Storage rates in the Bill.

Workaround:

NA

Additional Information

Impact/Risks:

• Bill does not show correct value or no value for Storage and this is a roadblock in charging end users appropriately.
