· Upgrade Aria Suite Lifecycle Manager to a newer version
· Locate upgrade related log files.
Symptoms:
Aria Suite Lifecycle Manager Upgrade sequence and Troubleshooting Upgrade issue.
Before upgrading Aria Suite Lifecycle Manager to a newer version below checks and steps must be followed
· Verify the Upgrade Path is supported.
· None of Aria Suite Lifecycle Manager tasks must be in "In Progress"
· Pre-Upgrade Snapshot Mandatory
Upgrading Aria Suite Lifecycle Manager
Aria Suite Lifecycle Manager upgrade is performed via UI.
Access Aria Suite Lifecycle Manager UI and select Lifecycle Operations --> Settings --> System Upgrade in UI as shown below.
Default repository is an online repository via VMware and it requires internet access.
CD-ROM options is suitable if Aria Suite Lifecycle Manager does not have access to Internet. User has to download update ISO from VMware Downloads page and then attach it to the appliance via CD-ROM
Repository URL can be used to upgrade Aria Suite Lifecycle Manager using locally hosted repository containing the extracted contents of Aria Suite Lifecycle Manager upgrade iso files
Then click on CHECK UPDATES , Aria Suite Lifecycle Manager responds back if the updates are available or not
Post that click on UPGRADE to start the upgrade. During upgrade Aria Suite Lifecycle Manager appliance will be rebooted and will be temporarily unavailable
We can check the below logs to get the package upload status and upgrade status on Aria Suite Lifecycle Manager

/opt/vmware/var/log/vami/vami.log
After upgrade package loaded successfully, we will see the below log entry on vami.log
/opt/vmware/var/log/vami/updatecli.log
After successful Aria Suite Lifecycle Manager upgrade.
Also we can check the below logs to check if upgrade fails.
/var/log/vrlcm/vmware_vrlcm.log
If Aria Suite Lifecycle Manager upgrade gets hung during package download state in Aria Suite Lifecycle Manager UI and no progress in the packages downloaded for a very long time.
Then take a snapshot of Aria Suite Lifecycle Manager and remove the /etc/upgradeprogress file and re-trigger the upgrade.
