Aria Operations Management Pack for Aria Automation Orchestrator Connection Issue

Issue/Introduction

• Unable to configure the VMware Aria Operations Management Pack for VMware Aria Automation Orchestrator (Aria Automation Orchestrator Orchestrator MP).
• Validation connection in Aria Operations fails with the error "Cannot complete login due to an incorrect user name or password".

Environment

Aria Operations 8.18.x

Cause

• Incomplete Basic Authentication configuration: Although the "com.vmware.o11n.sso.basic-authentication.enabled" system property was not set, additional Aria Automation Orchestrator configuration steps might be required for full Basic Authentication enablement.
• The "Orchestrator Administrator" role: The Aria Automation user requires specific permissions within Aria Automation, notably the "Orchestrator Administrator" role, to access the Management Pack and trigger workflows.

Resolution

• Enable Aria Automation Orchestrator Basic Authentication:
  Set the "com.vmware.o11n.sso.basic-authentication.enabled" system property to 'true' in Aria Automation Orchestrator using below Steps:
  • Login to vRO (https://vRA-FQDN/vco) > Control Center > Enter root credentials > Monitor and Control > System Properties > New > Key = com.vmware.o11n.sso.basic-authentication.enabled > Value = true > Add.

• Grant appropriate user permissions:
  Review the permissions of the Aria Automation user within Aria Automation Orchestrator and Aria Automation. Ensure the Aria Automation user has the "Orchestrator Administrator" role in Aria Automation > IDENTITY & ACCESS MANAGEMENT > Active Users.

• Review Management Pack configuration:
  Verify the Management Pack configuration within Aria Operations for any potential errors or missing settings. Consult the Management Pack documentation for specific setup requirements.

 

NOTE: Control Center is not available in Aria Automation Orchestrator version 8.18.1.x.
