Issue/Introduction

CSR Generation in the SDDC Manager version 4.5 and earlier might fail with the error message:

Failed to generate CSRs. Generate CSR failed., could not execute statement; SQL [n/a]; constraint [csr_generation_status_pkey]; nested exception is org.hibernate.exception.ConstraintViolationException: could not execute statement, could not execute statement, ERROR: duplicate key value violates unique constraint "csr_generation_status_pkey" Detail: Key (csr_id)=(1) already exists.

The above might be observed especially after upgrade or migration from VCF 3x to 4x.

Environment

VMware Cloud Foundation 3.0.x
VMware Cloud Foundation 4.0.x
VMware Cloud Foundation 4.5.x
VMware Cloud Foundation 5.0.x

Resolution

The issue is resolved in VMware Cloud Foundation 5.1.

Workaround:
Open an SSH console to the SDDC Manager, and execute the following command:

$ su -
Password:
# systemctl restart operationsmanager

Wait for 2 minutes as the service will restart and retry the CSR generation.

In case the CSR generation fails again, repeat the above steps once again.
